Historical Novel Society review: "Sabotage is a well-written, fast-moving adventure that never becomes tedious. Although part of a trilogy, it can be read as a standalone by young adults ages 10 and up."

Review by Breanne Bannerman, a Manitoba elementary school Library Technician: "What I really liked about this book, aside from the interesting subject matter, is that the story is told from two points of view; Saara and John, daughter and son of two Finnish immigrants, each get a turn to tell their side of the story ... Although this is the third book in a trilogy, it very much can stand on its own, as I never read the first two books and was able to follow this story without trouble. Books one and two are definitely on my To Read list! I think this is a great book to include in my school's MYRCA [Manitoba Young Readers' Choice Award] club for grade fives and I hope students who read it will like it as much as I did! I can see it being slightly more popular among the boys than the girls, but who knows!"

Amy's Marathon of Books Review by Amy Mathers: "I love the dynamic Autio had going on between Saara and John as siblings. The use of the altering narration was also quite effective. Autio's writing reminds me that there are many things in the Canada and the world I have yet learn about, and I'm glad writers like her are willing to tackle such subjects."

Knyzhka Corner Book Review by Myra Junyk: "Young readers from 10 to 12 will definitely enjoy this historical novel set in Canada during the World War I period. They will appreciate the realistic portrayal of Finnish family life and the interplay between brother and sister. Both siblings have ambitions for the future while they deal with everyday issues of daily life such as: chores, young love, bullies and friends. The novel alternates between John and Saara's point of view. This double narrative technique will appeal to both male and female readers."

A good review of Sabotage in Resource Links, February 2014: "Autio has given us another interesting book about immigrant families living in Canada during the war years … interesting to readers at the upper elementary level and would be a good supplement to Canadian social studies programs."

"Sabotage is a rich blend of compelling plot threads, fascinating historical detail, and concepts as relevant in today's world as they were back in 1915." Highly Recommended. Reviewed by CM: Canadian Review of Materials, February 21, 2014..
